Controls Workbench
An owner-side project controls workbench. Schedule, cost, risk, change, interfaces and reporting sit on one data spine — the same control accounts, periods and baseline — so every figure on a monthly report traces back to where it came from.
Programmes rarely fail for lack of controls. They fail because schedule, cost, risk and change are controlled separately and tell different stories by month end. This workbench integrates them on one record.
The workbenches
- Data Structures — portfolio set-up, coding model, breakdown structures and how they map, control accounts and assets.
- Scope — scope statements, WBS dictionary, assumptions and exclusions.
- Schedule — schedules from any planning tool (P6, Microsoft Project and others): Gantt, time–location, resources, DCMA 14-point quality checks and period updates.
- Estimating — estimates with basis of estimate, rate library and benchmarks, classified by AACE estimate class.
- Risk — risk registers at every level, responses, Monte Carlo schedule and cost risk analysis (QSRA and QCRA), issues and decisions.
- Baseline — build, cost-load and time-phase the baseline, risk-test it, then validate, gate and lock versions.
- Cost — budgets, actuals, commitments, procurement, cashflow, earned value and forecasts.
- Change — trends, change requests, compensation events and variations, change log and delay analysis.
- Interface — the seams between projects: dates, agreements, issues and interface risks.
- Reporting — monthly reports, portfolio status, period close and exports.
